My start at Innovasur

I joined Innovasur in October 2020 to work on the company’s Smart City project, which had just been born. Back then, there were only three of us: my manager and mentor, a colleague who would go on to become technical director of the Artificial Intelligence team, and me.

From the start, I had the opportunity to take part directly in building the platform, at a stage when there was a lot to define, develop and discover. It was an environment where I learned enormously, both from the technical challenges we faced and from working side by side with professionals I could learn from and who played an important role in my growth.

Building a platform from the ground up

Little by little, we developed and extended the platform based on client requirements and on the needs we identified as the project evolved. As new clients arrived, the complexity of the solution grew, along with its features and the team needed to build and maintain it.

What started as a Smart City project ended up becoming a technology ecosystem with a wide range of features, applications and solutions for different domains.

Being part of that growth from the beginning allowed me to know the platform in depth, understand the needs behind each development and take an active part in the technical decisions that shaped its evolution.

My technical contribution

During this stage, my work focused mainly on software development, covering different areas of the platform and also collaborating on other company initiatives.

• Full stack development: design and implementation of web applications, user interfaces, backend services and APIs.
• Smart City platform: development of features and services to integrate and manage data coming from devices, sensors and Artificial Intelligence systems.
• Mobile applications: development of mobile solutions integrated with the platform and its services.
• Blockchain: development in Go of a blockchain solution integrated into Smart City to record events in a secure and traceable way, improving data integrity and interoperability.
• Collaboration on other projects: participation in various company initiatives, providing technical support and building software solutions to meet specific needs.

Growth and new responsibilities

As the project grew and the team brought in new members, my role evolved too. The trust placed in me gradually turned into greater responsibilities, moving from focusing mainly on development to becoming increasingly involved in organizing the work, making technical decisions and shaping the overall evolution of the platform.

This growth happened naturally, tied both to my knowledge of the product and to my commitment to the project. Over time, I took on the technical leadership of the Smart City platform, guiding its development and helping steer the team’s work.

This evolution laid the foundations for my next professional stage, in which my position and responsibilities took a further step forward towards Principal Engineer, Tech Lead and Project Manager roles.

A stage that shaped my career

These years were fundamental to my professional development. I had the opportunity to grow alongside a project from its very beginning, learn from my manager and mentor and from colleagues who became technical role models, and take on increasingly complex challenges in a constantly evolving environment.

Beyond the technologies and projects I worked on, I take with me the experience of having helped build a platform from scratch, having grown with it, and having taken on ever greater responsibilities as the product and the team grew.

It was a stage that defined much of how I understand software engineering and prepared me to take the next step in my career.
